Nigeria's homicide police have launched investigations into the sudden death of fast-rising Afrofuji singer Destiny Boy, real name Afeez Adesina, who passed away at just 22

Ogun State Police confirmed that one person has been arrested as detectives from the homocide section handle the case. The brief police statement has only fueled public curiosity, as the exact cause of death remains unclear. 

News of Destiny Boy's passing broke on Sunday, instantly sending shockwaves across social media, While family members say the young star had been battling a long-term illness linked to seizures, disturbing videos allegedly showing his body being transported to a mortuary sparked intense online speculation and contraversy.

In an emotional online video, his mother, Saida, revealed that the family sought both medical and traditional treatment for the illness, which she said sometimes caused severe episodes where he had to be restrained to stop him from running away.

Destiny Boy was widely celebrated as one of Nigeria's most promising young talents, blending traditional Yoruba Fuji with modern Afrobeats. He rose to national fame in 2019 after his viral remake of Davido's hit ''If''', before releasing original music and collaborations.

The mystery deepened after artist Ruger questioned the circumstances surrounding the death, alleging there was no autopsy, a comment that further ignited debate online. 

Adding to the tragedy, Destiny Boy had recently embraced fatherhood, welcoming his first child in November 2024 with his partner, Iremide

The singer's body has since been buried according to Islamic rites, but unaswered questions remain.
