In communities where hope often feels distant, Zorg Foundation is quietly doing the work of restoring dignity, care, and opportunity to those who need it most
Zorg Foundation is a community-driven NGO in Uganda, dedicated to supporting children, girls, and women from poor, homeless, and underserved families. With a mission rooted in empathy and action, the organization focuses on education, healthcare support, empowerment, social change, and community welfare - bringing hope back to lives that have long been overlooked.
Since July 2024, Zorg Foundation has organized over 15 community outreaches across different parts of the country. These outreaches go beyond charity; they meet people at their point of need. The foundation has provided meals, sanitary pads for girls, basic necessities, school materials such as pens, pencils and books, as well as sexual reproductive health education. Families have also received economic and educational support aimed at creating sustainable, long-term impact, not dependency.

At the heart of Zorg Foundation, as its founder is Naiga Josephine, a professional and experienced primary school teacher with a lifelong passion for children's welfare. Before Zorg became a foundation, Naiga once ran an orphanage - an experience that shaped her deep commitment to vulnerable communities.
Her vision expanded after meeting Mubiru Frank Scott, a young man who himself studied under orphanage sponsorship. Inspired by his own journey and driven by the desire to give back, Frank encouraged Naiga to think bigger. He now volunteers in project management and social media, playing a key role in the foundation's growth. Together, their shared dedication led to the official inception of Zorg Foundation in 2022, grounded in one simple belief; restoring dignity through empathy

The name ''Zorg'' comes from a Dutch word meaning ''care'', a reflection of the compassion that defines the organization. This spirit of care was witnessed firsthand by our ground correspondent in Bulondo, Mende - Wakiso, where local communities continue to feel the foundation's impact.
''Transparency and accountability have opened more doors for us, both locally and internatonally,'' says Naiga Josephine. One clear example is the partnership with Bavo Van Eesbeek, a Belgian citizen who handles international donations on behalf of Zorg Foundation. In December 2025, Bavo personally visited Uganda and joined the team on the ground, participating in community compassion outreaches - a powerful show of trust and commitment.

Among Zorg's most touching success stories is that of Kakembo Joseph, a Person With Difficulties (PWD). Through the foundation's support, Kakembo received a wheelchair, restoring his mobility and dignity. Beyond that, he was empowered with a small shoe business, enabling him to earn a living and support himself independently.
Zorg Foundation has also responded to urgent community infrastructure needs. In partnership with local residents, the organization helped reconstruct a local tributary bridge connecting Kisimu to Kagoma, which had been washed away by floods. This single act restored safe passage for hundreds of community members who cross the route daily - a proof that compassion can rebuild more than just structures; it rebulds hope.

Zorg Foundation's story is a reminder that even a simple dollar donation can save a life. Every contribution helps a child stay in school, a girl stay safe and dignified, and a community move one step closer to stability.
As Sweet FM UG, we celebrate and uplift organization like Zorg Foundation because when care meets action, real change happens.
